Ensor do-expo 'Great Art for Little Connoisseurs'

Educational and interactive expo for children about the life of James Ensor, one of Belgium's greatest artists

This summer, visit the unique family exhibition on James Ensor at the Antwerp Handelsbeurs!

An educational and wacky hands-on exhibition for children about the life of Ensor - one of Belgium's greatest artists.

The expo is based on the children's book of the same name "Great Art for Little Connoisseurs" by Thaïs Vanderheyden.

Thaïs Vanderheyden introduces children to the greatest masterpieces of painting in a humorous and approachable way. She repaints the most famous works of art and turns them into junior parodies. Besides that funny version, of course, the original work is shown and an anecdotal story is told about the painting, painter, subject or style. Tens of thousands of children have visited the funny exhibitions of Great Art for Little Connoisseurs and this summer it is Antwerp's turn!

During this expo, the hermit lobster Arno will take you on a time travel through the colorful life of James Ensor. This year it has been 75 years since we said goodbye to James ENSOR, but in Antwerp the avant-garde artist lives on. In addition, children can search for James Ensor's masks in the hands-on section of the expo.
